Entering the writer’s room

There are days when I can’t wait to get to my keyboard. When my characters are so alive, I follow the smell of their coffee.

And days when I open my laptop and find five hundred and three things that lead me into purposeless digital time-sucks.

On those days, when I feel like a horse pulling against the bit, I read this, follow the steps, and get to my 250 words.

Almost without fail, I find my flow and disappear into the world I’ve created.

Maybe it’ll work for you? If not, write one for yourself and see where it takes you.

For me, the key is creating little triggers that tell my brain, “We’re in writing mode now.” The more I repeat them, the easier it becomes to make that shift.

If you try mine or create your own, let me know how it works!
